My Work Memo - KIM SUNG RO

 

Who Am I? I always ask myself this question to grasp the meaning of my existence when I drawing. For me, the work of painting is the echo of my life coming from the deep in my heart. Pondering in silence, I still cannot say whether I had been in existence before I was born by my parents or not.

What is life? Isn’t it that comes in from nothing and comes out while singing and crying? Considering the life of the cosmos, the life of the earth is short and just a grain of dust, much less my life. I am the one who has not existed at all.

We, humans, are supposed to enjoy our journey which we call life, doing our utmost. The universe is one. The life and the lifeless are one. How useless thinking humans are important, lowly and famous and so on is! Look at the essence of life. We are all connected in one chain.

Everything is equal even though they seem small or big. Everything has the right to be happy. Love is the core essence and the gate to happiness. We are one connected to each other.

My work starts from this relation and finishes at the essence of life. Who am I? Everything is generated from an organic relationship. I have been changing like a stream and how can I pinpoint who I am. I am the one who comes out of the co-relation. So, don't be tormented because something is not working for you.

Everything will come to maturity and bear fruit in due time. What is important in life then? Let’s learn from children who concentrate on play, and do not hesitate to quit. How can we have a delightful life? Empty yourself so that you can enjoy your life when you disengage yourself at any time. Nature is beautiful as it is. All of my work comes from the nature.

 

 

 

인도 첸나이는 영국이 식민 지배하였던 경제교두보로서 현재 현대자동차, 삼성전기, 만도기계 등 한국의 크고 작은 기업이 250개, 상주 교민이 약 5,000명이 생활하고 있는 인도 남부의 제1 경제 도시입니다. 인도 전체에서 첸나이 주에는 약 8,000만 명이 살고 있으며 중심도시인 첸나이 시는 약 1,000만 명이 생활하고 있습니다. 첸나이 시는 현재 떠오르는 경제도시로 인도 수도인 뉴델리를 넘어서 제 1도시로 부상할 준비에 여념이 없습니다. 이 지역에 한국기업들이 대거 진출하여 인도경제에 지대한 영향력을 행사하고 있어서 한국인은 첸나이 시에서 최고의 선진 국민으로 대우를 받고 있다고 사료됩니다. 인도의 다른 지역과 달리 첸나이 시의 경제발전 속도는 한국인이 거주하는 지역에서는 1년 사이 땅값이 10배를 뛰었다는 소문이 있으며 첸나이 시내 지역 또한 급속히 뛰고 있는 것으로 볼 때 엄청난 가속도를 보입니다.

이번 '첸나이 쳄버 비엔날레'는 인도 정부(라릿 카라 아카데미), 인도한국문화원(인코), (사) K-ART 국제교류협회가 공동기획, 공동주최하는 한국 현대회화전으로서는 대규모 전시로서 한국작가 약 300명이 참여하는 Chamber Biennale Exhibition 입니다. 전시 장소는 첸나이 소재 인도정부 소유의 라릿 카라 아카데미 전시관 전관입니다.
