아름다운 세상, 살며 사랑하며

나의 작업에는 다양한 이야기들을 담은 수많은 그림 조각들이 모자이크 형식으로 맞추어져 있다. 그 이유는 단지 보이는 형상뿐 아니라 여러 가지 느낌과 사유, 꿈이나 추억, 감정 등을 작품에 모두 담고 싶기 때문이다.

 

작업의 주제는 ‘아름다운 세상, 살며 사랑하며’의 연작이다. 하루하루 일상에서 일어나는 여러 가지 생각과 감정들을 작은 조각에 그린 후 전체를 조합하면 하나의 삶이 되고 한 작품으로서의 생명이 탄생된다.

 

세상은 작은 부분들이 서로 연결된 하나이다. 하나의 나무, 하나의 인간, 하나의 꽃, 하나의 풀잎, 하나의 세상……. 그 하나하나가 모여 이루어진 세상은 내부적으로 연결된 하나의 집합체다. 따라서 나의 그림도 작은 세포들처럼 작은 형상들이 모여 하나의 주제를 형상화하고 있다.

 

사람들이 살아가는 모습은 천태만상이지만 바라보는 시각에 따라 아름답게도 보이고 괴롭고 고통스럽게도 보여 진다.

나의 작품을 바라보는 관객들이 주어진 삶과 환경들을 사랑하고 사소해 보이는 것들에게도 애정의 시선으로 볼 수 있는 행복한 삶을 살아가길 바라는 마음으로 작품을 제작하고 있다. - 2018-.

 

My work consists of a lot of paintings that contain various fragments of stories listed in mosaics. My work has feelings, thoughts, dreams, memories, and emotions; it takes on many appearances, and that’s all I want to express. My working process is first to establish a topic, then to organize the thoughts and feelings which come to mind relating to that topic with the help of mind mapping, and finally to paint each small segment containing the results of my brainstorming that, when finished, combines all the pieces together to form a single work. In this process, the small parts might not be considered harmonious with the whole painting when considered individually,

but the right amount of diversity gives the whole painting a sense of united harmonization that would not be present otherwise. Small parts of the world are connected to each other. one tree, one human, one flower, and even a single blade of grass, although different, all consist of the world.......

Each small part of the world gathers together to make one collection of everything connected internally. So my paintings show a collection where individual shapes come together like small cells to visually represent one topic.
